Discover the beauty of Buenos Aires by taking a close look at the National Congress House and our "Plaza de Mayo", the oldest square in the city along which there are several colonial buildings, such as the The Metropolitan Cathedral, The "Casa Rosada", the "Cabildo", to mention but a few. Important historical events have taken place here. Admire the Colon Theater, one of the most important opera houses in Latin America. Visit San Telmo, a traditional neighbourhood where "Salones de baile", as tango salons are called, blanket the city. In these salons you can watch traditional Argentine tango danced by all generations, and most offer lessons before the floor opens up to dancers. You won't find many novices on the dance floor after midnight, however. Stop at the colourful neighborhood of La Boca, once home of Italian immigrants and now the meeting place off many artists. Wandering Caminito Street in La Boca you will capture the flavor of early Buenos Aires on this short historic street, which is also considered an outdoor museum. The Caminito is famous for the brightly colored sheet-metal houses that border it and for the sculptures, paintings, and wall murals you'll find along the street. Performers and dancers are here every day. Puerto Madero, once the old Buenos Aires harbour now one of the newest and most exclusive places in the City of Buenos Aires.
Prior to its official inauguration in September of 1998, this section of the port had fallen into disrepair. Today, luxurious restaurants, offices and movie theaters have replaced the ancient brick silos, making this the city's most exclusive district, preferred by tourists and business travelers. Enjoy Palermo, a combination of history and art with entertainment and amusement in its green spaces.
Finally, visit the Recoleta Cemetery, the beautiful cemetery in Buenos Aires houses expensive mausoleums competing for grandeur--a place where people can remain rich, even after death.
Although it may seem unusual, fashionable restaurants, bars, cafés, discos and a cinema complex also surround the area.
