"Bilingualism in the 21st Century"                                                                                                              15.10. - Saturday, 5th September 2009.

Bilingual education programmes are growing in both number and size around the world. Education authorities, schools and parents are keen to develop individuals who will be able to take an active and successful part in the increasingly globalised society and economy. Bilingual education is seen not only as a way of achieving this goal, but also as a way of introducing innovative practices in the education system. Implementing such change raises issues in curriculum development, teacher education, pupil assessment and public understanding among others.
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has a long-standing relationship with bilingual education programmes in Argentina and is involved in new projects in many countries, particularly in Europe. This talk will describe recent developments in bilingual education and CIE's related research and development activities.
