"Introduction to TKT: CLIL"                                                                                                                    12.10. - Sunday, 6^th September 2009.

This presentation aims at providing a brief description and characterisation of CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning), an innovative FL methodology which has recently emerged throughout Europe. According to Coyle (2007) CLIL is an umbrella term which defines any activity in which "a foreign language is used as a tool in the learning of a non-language subject in which both language and the subject have a joint role" (Marsh 2002, ctd in Coyle op. Cit.).
Of late, teachers of other curriculum subjects and language teachers have become very keen on learning this new methodology. In answer to this growing concern for professional development, ESOL Cambridge offers an optional TKT module, TKT:CLIL, which assesses the knowledge of CLIL and the practice of planning, teaching and assessing curriculum subjects taught in English.
