Security - protecting your data
ESSARP has incorporated VeriSign* digital certificates to our www.essarp.org.ar and www.essarp-enrolment.org.ar Websites. These certificates are validated by CertiSur, the VeriSign* representative in Argentina.
Although you may not notice any visible change to these websites, or how you navigate them, a digital certificate provides two important benefits for the user. On the one hand, it guarantees that the data is encrypted, which means that the integrity and confidentiality of the data is protected as it travels from the client to the server. On the other hand it also guarantees that the Website has been validated, and that the domain belongs to, and has been registered by, the firm or organisation whose name appears on the certificate. (SSL Certificate Status)
Fundamental measures you should take into account to safeguard your information:
- Do not share your password with others. Your password should be known only to you.
- You should change your password as soon as you receive it.
- You should change your password regularly. You should change your password immediately if you believe that somebody else may know it.
- Avoid using "easy" passwords such as: your birth date, your document number, your telephone number, any sequence or repetition of digits, any word that may be found in a dictionary, chains of characters like "123456" or "abc123", the username, etc.
- You should see the HTTPS protocol (instead of the HTTP) on the navigation bar when a secure communication has been established. Also check that the name of the site matches the name that you expect, or the name that you typed in.
- Your browser has symbols which allow you to identify clearly and easily that the communication is encrypted. Search for the symbol of a closed lock on the far right hand side of the toolbar in "Internet Explorer" and "Mozilla Firefox" (The symbol may be different in other browsers).
- Get into the habit of distrusting the links that you receive in an Email. Each link should be verified carefully before clicking on it. This mechanism is frequently used by hackers who try to trick the unwary user into clicking on a link in order to get them to visit fake Websites.
