The English for Teachers I course combines Language Teaching and Language Learning studies and it consists of twenty four modules. Each of the modules is self-contained and includes a variety of activities which provide regular and integrated coverage of the language skills, opportunities for the study of the language system, ways of developing teaching-related language, language awareness and cultural awareness, as well as awareness and evaluation of teaching methodologies. At the end of each module, teachers have the opportunity for reflection on the value of the topic or activities to themselves and to their own students. At the end of the course, teachers may choose to obtain a certificate of attendance or sit for an exam to obtain credits (GCBA). This last option is still pending due to the new accreditation guidelines designed by the Ministery of Education. As the English for Teachers I course covers the contents of the ESOL Exam for teachers called TKT, participants will have the opportunity to choose to sit for the TKT modules in any of the exam sessions.
