1) Characters and characterization, symbols, biblical references, pragmatic elements.
2) The use of pathos, ethos and logos in the main speeches.
3) Historical vs. fictional facts.
4) Importance of the context of production of the play: McCarthyism.
5) Tensions and main themes in the play: Science vs. Religion, Literal vs. Literary interpretation of the Scriptures, Creationism vs. Evolutionism, Importance of Free Thought, the North and the South of the US, the Country and the City, Fundamentalism, Populism.
6) Elements of Greek tragedy in the play.
