The purpose of this workshop is to acquaint participants with different ways of taking advantage of mobile devices (cell phones and tablets) and their applications to expand students’ exposure to the language. To this end, we will carry out some activities in order to explore how powerful apps can be and thus enhance learning. This will, in turn, foster discussion among participants and will, hopefully, help them improve their teaching practices, create fascinating teaching materials or resources, and also facilitate collaboration among students within the classroom.
- General overview of the state-of-the-art theory and basic characteristics of apps
- Discussion and exploration of different types of educational apps
- Discussion and exploration of non-educational apps for educational purposes
Presentation and discussion of the T-Pack Model and the SAMR Model. Exploration of some educational apps and some non-educational apps for educational purposes. Guided group reflection and exchange of ideas on the main issues raised by the theory and the hands-on practice.
