Glossary of Educational Theatre words:
*Image Theatre: Is a device that enables the students to be crystallized characters (statues) at a particular moment of a drama, scene, or story. This allows the material to be analyzed or interpreted closely. The IT could be used alone or in conjunction with a series of actions (with or without words) and sound effects.
*Narrative Pantomime: Children pantomime selected action- passages while teachers read aloud or narrate it. These narrations could be done for one student (a character) or for the entire class (many characters). Narrations can relate sensory experiences, feelings, and emotions.
The methodology derives from that used at “The Creative Arts Team” (CAT), City University of New York. CAT is a theatre company that applies “drama in education” and “theatre in education” methods. The work will be experiential; therefore, the participants will wear both hats: as children doing drama, and as educators reflecting upon what´s being done in the course.
