Grace Vilar

She is a graduated English teacher who has 30 years of classroom experience and headship in bilingual schools in Argentina. She travels to the UK on a yearly basis to work in schools, work with the most renown Phonics and Literacy experts. She is a certificate Synthetic Phonics expert who works as a Synthetic Phonics Trainer, an Educational and Literacy Consultant and Teacher Trainer offering advice and providing training in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brasil, Mexico, Ecuador and Peru, in private and state schools. Grace is an IFERI Committee member: International Foundation for Effective Reading Instruction, an Associate of Educators International: Professional Educators Volunteering Overseas for the Department of Education UK. She is the author of the Spanish Phonics Programme: Alfabetizacion en español.

Jennifer Verschoor

Jennifer Verschoor graduated from St. Andrew's Scots School. She holds a degree in Literary, Technical and Legal Translation as well as a Bachelor's degree in Educational Management, English Teaching and ICT in the Classroom validated by Trinity College London. She holds an MA in Virtual Environments and a Specialization in Education and ICT offered by the Ministry of Education in Argentina. She is the co-author of My First Digital Journey, an ebook published by The Round in December 2012. Currently she is working for the British Council in Argentina and Chile, ESSARP, Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, Cambridge English and SimpleK12 giving teacher training courses on the integration of ICT. She has been hired by SBS International to co-moderate TIC en el AULA, nominated for an ELTon Award in 2013 under the category Local Innovation.

Educators willing to learn about computational thinking and phonics

Objetivos

-Educators will explore the importance of computational thinking in education and its implementation linked with literacy.
-Educators will discuss the relationship between phonics and computational thinking and discuss examples about it.

Contenido

-What is computational thinking in education?
-What are the corner stones of computational thinking?
-What is the alphabetic code?
-Alphabetic code vs the alphabet
-What is the relationship between the alphabetic code and phonics with computational thinking?
-Practical examples of literacy and phonics based on computational thinking.

Metodología

This is going to be an interactive webinar where we are going to explore the links between literacy and phonics with computational thinking and the implementation in every day classroom life. This is a two hour webinar delivered via Zoom platform.
