Postgraduate course in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at I.E.S en Lenguas Vivas "J.R. Fernández." MA in Literary Linguistics (University of Nottingham). She teaches English Literature I and Children's Literature at I.S.P. J.V.González and I.E.S. en Lenguas Vivas "J.R. Fernández" Teacher Training Colleges and IGCSE and IB literature at secondary schools. She has participated in research projects on Intercultural Awareness and Border literacy. She has co-authored "Little Stars" pre-primary series and "Our Stories" primary series for Pearson and designed creative writing and literature materials for other series (Pearson and Macmillan).

Objetivos

- To provide teachers with textual intervention teaching strategies to make the most of the reading of Life of Pi for the IGCSE exam.
- To propose intertextual links that will allow teachers to meet IGCSE Literature objectives.

Contenido

Life of Pi’s paratextual and fan art will be used as a springboard for critical analysis of the novel. We will also look for the text’s intertextual links with William Blake, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar, Ernest Hemingway and the Bible. Finally, we will search for points of entry in the novel to trigger off creative thinking activities.

Metodología

The sessions will be organized in terms of workshops for participants to enrich their understanding of the text with contributions from the group. The latter will discuss the target audience for each text, points of entry, textual interventions and intertextual links which can be established with other verbal or visual texts.
